Curing
  • All urethane films will take 4 weeks to fully cure out depending on seasonal temperatures. Warmer weather will speed up this process. Within the first 24-hours, use a lint-free rag and gently press down all the edges of the film.

  • It’s a little known fact that mechanical brush car wash systems can eventually harm your paint finish. You may hand wash your vehicle three days after installation.

  • During the curing process, you might see a small water bubble, haze or condensation under the film that has not settled out with the adhesive curing process.

  • The urethane film cures through a breathing process, the same process as your natural paint surfaces and window tint do. The water bubble, haze or condensation will evaporate through the film and cure out over the weeks to come along with the curing of the adhesive bonding process.
Washing
  • Your new car protection loves to be washed, but please wait two weeks before your next mechanical car wash. Heavy water pressure can cause the newly installed protective film to lift around the edges. We recommend brushless car wash to keep both your paint and protection film in pristine condition.

  • All paint protection film is very susceptible to water spotting. Hard water deposits which are baked on by the sun cannot be removed and are not covered under any warranty.
Waxing
  • Keep the film waxed and sealed with a quality clear coat finish like Mother’s Synthetic Waxes or Meguiar’s Ultimate.

  • By nature, all paint protection film is porous. This is why it’s so important to keep the film cleaned and waxed with a good quality clear coat finish as mentioned above. Dirt, dust, and other airborne impurities left on unsealed film will eventually cause the film to become dull. A quality clear coat finish fills in pores of the film and seals it from contaminants.

  • To maintain the film, use our recommended quality products at least two times a month or more. It’s recommended that a “Final Finish” product be applied after every car wash.

  • Use ONLY auto soap and water to clean the film.

  • Do not use any kind of petroleum-based products on the film.
    • No Simple Green, 409 bug and tar removers, or any degreasers
    • No products that contain abrasives or dyes that will cause the film to become dull

Failure to maintain film voids all warranties.

Can I install a clear bra film or headlight protection myself?
The materials for a clear bra package can cost anywhere between $400-600, and you will be running the risk of damaging the film when applying it yourself. Because of this, we recommend that your clear bra or headlight protection be installed by a fully trained, professional applicator. Professional installers have the past experience and skill required to apply the film around complex curves, challenging grillwork, wheel openings, bumpers and all other areas on today’s vehicles.
Will it really stop rocks from chipping the car?
Yes, the material was originally designed to stop chips on helicopter rotor blades and airplane propellers. It is much easier for the product to protect your vehicles paint than a propeller moving at nearly the speed of sound.
Can I wash and wax protective film?
Yes, the urethane film loves to be washed and waxed just as your paint surface does now. When waxing the vehicle, some wax may build up along the film edges. This can easily be removed when dry with a soft brush, such as a toothbrush or detailer brush.

  • Use only products designed for clear coat finishes.

  • Do not use any waxes containing dyes or waxes that are not recommended for urethanes.

  • Abrasive polishes and/or rubbing compounds are not to be used.

  • One way to minimize the wax buildup is to use spray wax around the film edges.
Is the application of the film permanent?
No, it can be removed at anytime.
Can a clear bra film be removed from vehicle and used again?
No, once the film has been applied and set, the adhesive will not stick a second time.
Will there be a “two tone” effect in the paint if the film is ever removed?
No, SUNTEK film is UV stable allowing UV rays to penetrate which eliminates the “two tone shades” of paint problem resulting from traditional car “bras”.
Will film harm the painted surface if film is removed?
If the film is properly applied to a fully-cured painted vehicle, it can be removed without damaging paint surfaces beneath the film. Warning: If film is applied to a repainted, older or not properly cured paint, there is a slight risk of the paint being peeled off.
Can you paint or apply a clearcoat paint over the urethane film or headlight overlay?
No, this is not recommended and is at your own risk.
Can the urethane film be applied over graphics?
Yes, it can be applied over vinyl graphics. However, if the film is removed, damage may occur to the underlying graphic during the removal process.
Does the urethane film stick to plastic?
Yes, only to smooth surfaces.
How long should I wait to apply your product if my car has been repainted?
You will need to talk to your body shop and see what they recommend. The time will vary depending on the type of paint the body shop used and whether or not the paint was baked in an accelerated curing process. In any case, the time that they say you should wait to wax the paint, is the same time you will need to wait to install our product. You can always call our shop, and we can work with your body shop to assure the proper cure time has been given to your vehicle. This will ensure quality installation of our paint protection film.
